Other Brands: What looks like cotton in many feminine hygiene and cosmetic puff products isn’t always 100% cotton. It’s often a blend of wood-fluff pulp and synthetics such as rayon/viscose. These cotton alternatives may not feel as natural or as soft on the body, and they can be less environmentally friendly than pure cotton.

Chlorine/Dioxin Free
Other Brands:Many standard feminine hygiene products use chlorine to bleach the raw materials. Bleaching is done to disinfect and whiten these materials. Dioxin can be a byproduct of certain chlorine-bleaching processes, and trace residues may remain in the fibers that come in contact with your body—potentially leading to prolonged exposure to this carcinogen (cancer-causing substance).

Wood Fluff Pulp Free
Other Brands:Many sanitary pads use wood-fluff pulp as the absorbent core material. Wood-fluff pulp is derived from trees, and large-scale demand can contribute to pressure on forests and forest resources.

Cotton is a more renewable crop that can be harvested once a year, whereas trees take 6 – 12 years to grow. Also, once the trees are harvested and cut down, they go through a very harsh chemical treatment in order to break them down in to the cotton-like and looking absorbent core you’re used to seeing in other pads. Do not be fooled - even though it looks like cotton, it might not actually be cotton.
Hypoallergenic/Irritation Free
Other Brands: Many standard feminine hygiene products contain synthetics and other potential irritants, such as fragrances. These ingredients aren’t natural and may cause irritation or discomfort for some women.
